    So I am looking to digitize my massive old collection of photos (long overdue) and I was wondering... has anyone ever tried or knows of a good photo scanning service? Where you send them a box and they return it with a CD or something.

    alternative to buying a scanner

    just a suggestion; as it turns out, there is a scanner app which detects hundreds of frequencies. the app is called "emergency radio free" for apple products and its free. i found that it picks up Baltimore area trains, fire dept, police, etc, and it probably picks up other railroads as well...
