Portage la Prairie is one of the best places to railfan on the Prairies, as that's where the CN & CP mainlines meet, not to mention CP's & CN's Prarie North Lines. The town itself doesn't generate much traffic however, thus there's only one unit on duty - a GP38-2, ussually CP 3106...
This picture was taken from the loading platform. The train is a tourist train run by the Lewistown Chamber of Comerce; normaly it goes to Deton & back. This is a special "brunch with Santa" train which doesn't go all the way to Deton, it only goes about 3/4 of the way there...
UP # 760 sitting at the UP Mead yard on a cold wet Sunday. Power from Mead yard moves autoracks and also provides power for the local that runs to Paramount which used to be handled by the Anaheim yard.
This Train was arriving into the Burbank Airport Amtrak Station. On this Day. She is 8 Cars. Thats 6 Surfliners and 2 Superliners with only one F59 Pushing this Train. Back almost a year ago. Around the Thanksgiving Holiday. The Day before Turkey Day.
