  1. Lonely curve

    Lonely curve

I wanted to catch a train on the curve, there was just no traffic. Oh well, maybe next time. Here's what it looks like with trains running: http://www.railroadforums.com/photos/showphoto.php?photo=16546&sort=1&cat=500&page=10...
  2. CN OHIO crane

    CN OHIO crane

1976 CN 50474, 40 ton OHIO crane pushed a platform, also pulling another one. Notice a MOW operator on the front. I got to observe this thing lay fresh tracks from the car it pulled, then travel the mainline to rest at the MOW depot. Quite an impresive piece of machinery.
  3. ONR IMS on CN Rivers sub

ONR IMS on CN Rivers sub

CN & ONR have a power sharing agreement, whereby CN gives them power for heavy coal trains, ONR in turn gives back whenever it can spare (or something close). Normally their units are capped in Northern Ontario, here however their newest power is taking an Intermodal out West! ONR 2105 is...

  5. GP9 smoke

    GP9 smoke

An original GP9 smokes up while leading the local on the mainline. It's a regular daily train (exept weekends).
  6. My best shot?

    My best shot?

I think this is my best shot to date. The sky and two Dash 9-44CW's (CN 2646 & 2587) made it happen.
  7. Slug leading

    Slug leading

CN 278, GP9 slug, leads a local, with CN 7218, GP9RM for power.
  8. My first digital shot

    My first digital shot

The first RR picture I made with a digital camera. No zoom, just aimed at what moved... Leading the local, original GP9 in everyday service.
  9. CN GP9RM

    CN GP9RM

The view you'll see if you're being run over by a train. Shot from public property, obviously it wasn't moving. Looks a bit like a 2300 series ALCO with the short hood, round roof & no dithlights...
  10. BNSF local

    BNSF local

BNSF's daily local (exept weekends), consisting of BNSF 1685 (GP9) and a Operation Lifesaver caboose. Only one car for today.
  11. VIA 692/693

    VIA 692/693

VIA 692/693 lead by a solo F40PH-2. The last F40PH-2 ever made.
  12. NS Dash 9-40CW

    NS Dash 9-40CW

NS 9032 is trailing CN 5749 & 9433 on 304? This was my first foreign power sighting.
  13. GCFX trio

    GCFX trio

Today when GE ES44DCs have taken over CN, while SD40-2s & SD50Fs are being retired in droves, its hard to believe that earlier this year CN was still leasing 50 Alstom SD40-3s, all ex-CN SD40s. Power policy sure changed quickly! Back in 2004 I managed to catch three trio sets working the...
  14. CN 655-01

    CN 655-01

Kind of looks like a European diesel, complete with a funky headlight! Aside from cranes & Rail grinders, still the biggest MOW single piece Ive seen to date. Note the two arrows on the body, indicating where the front is? Be odd to see that on locomotive frames instead of the usual F, R...
  15. UP Trains meet at Dale Jct, WY

UP Trains meet at Dale Jct, WY

Dale Junction, Wyoming, where the 1953 addition of #3 track joins the original doubletrack transcon. Here we see a westbound drag manifest on #3, and an eastbound stack train on #2 track.
  16. Engine 16 (Super8 Extraction)

    Engine 16 (Super8 Extraction)

From my movie DVD, Extra 16 West (4 SD-40's on the head end) arrives at Tacoma Jct after a midtrain derailment at Garcia, MP 2131 (between Cedar Falls and Hyak). This is the head end. I am tending the switch from the mainline to the yard, my wrecker-work extra is in the clear on the T & E...

    Belt Jct Telephoto

A UP northbound takes Belt Jct towards Spring Tx
