    Cheyenne locations?

I'm going to have a day and a half of free time when I'm in Cheyenne in a couple of weeks. Aside from the old depot, are there some especially good spots trackside to railfan? I won't be going to Sherman Hill this trip. People have mentioned MP 511 (?). Where is that located? Thanks!

There's a WSOR discussion group on Yahooo Groups, I think. You'd probably get a quick answer there.

    Brownsville and Rio Grande Valley?

I was on South Padre Island a few weeks ago and happened to drive by the B&RGV next to the Port of Brownsville. Saw a shiny SD40-2 (SD40-3?) at their engine terminal but nothing was moving. Unfortunately, I did not get any pix. Anybody have any info on this line - engine roster, traffic...

    Tilt Shift

Outstanding. Truly outstanding. They DO look like a model, don't they? Hmmm, makes me wonder if that could be a useful tool for proto modelers - see how close your scenes come to matching the prototype taken with TS.

    Bloomer Line (Illinois) activity?

Lately I've been driving through Gibson City, IL on trips to Champaign. I've caught some activity on the BLOL around the Solae plant, but I've never seen anything north of Sibley aside from what look to be cars in storage. Does the BLOL do anything these days on the Colfax and / or Kempton...

Does the Chicago Sanitary District own switch engines?

I was just browsing with Bing birdseye view and ran across a couple of SWs on industrial tracks in Stickney, IL., north of the river. I'm assuming this is part of the Chicago Sanitary District. Didn't know they had SWs of their own. Tnx!

    That's Not Grain Dust

I think I read something about lignite coal needing covered hoppers. Vaguely recall that they were mining it in Illinois or Indiana and the main hauler (a regional) was buying these funky covered coal hoppers. Or maybe it was one too many mojitos... :p

    Warbonnet, KCS "Belle" car

BNSF used something like that to convey old ballast off to the side of the ROW.

Do you have a family lawyer? I would not rely on legal advice posted in an Internet forum, nor would I give it as I am not a licensed attorney. Around here, even the cops have been wrong on issues of law, especially if the question lies outside their normal area of expertise and experience...

    Joliet,IL Railfan trip photos 4-9-10

Did any METRA or Amtrak personnel hassle you? Or did Amtrak rescind their "evict rail phtographers from Craptrak facilities" order?

    Chicago trip

I rode the METRA BNSF West Line every weekday for 7 years. That GP used for METRA switching used to be an SWxxxx (or maybe an MPxx - never paid that much attention to it)...

    BNSF ore train on EJE?

Marks were BNSF. Dunno, maybe they were closer to your pic than the CNW cars. I should have tried to at least get a pic with my phone...

    BNSF ore train on EJE?

Running off power hours maybe? The ore cars were standard shorty hoppers like the CNW used to run in the Upper Peninsula between the iron (taconite) mines and the Escanaba ore dock: but in much better shape. I don't recall the color (maybe black)...

    BNSF ore train on EJE?

Caught a unit train of BNSF ore jennies running SB on the CN (ex-EJE) the other day thru Aurora, IL. Any idea where they're from / heading?
