One hour drive up, one back, and two hours of train time....was REALLY busy on this day 4 - 24 -2024
A couple of really long Manifests with DPU and the typical for CSX traffic this time of day through East Syracuse NY

When I first was rail fanning CSX I rarely saw EMD's anywhere other than in the yards switching. But then the sd70ac rebuilds started to show up and now what used to be rare is really common now. This is a typical sample :)

CSX X409 West Bound with 416 axles , until it had to stop and cut out a car on the other side of town (This at MP280 Kirkville , They stopped at MP298 Blocking a cross road, had to split the train cut out a car, reconnect and go..... BUT I got them here with ALL the cars :)

So this is some video shots in the East Syracuse & Minoa New York area
-
A couple of my favorites. Prolly should put up a video of the Mohawk Sub as well. This one is the "Best" Rochester Sub East of Rochester NY
-
Lot's of interesting stuff in this one. A REAL busy day on the CSX Main line. This is AFTER the Baltimore disaster and I have to wonder if re-routing and other issues are part of the reason for the increased traffic.
-
Focused on a couple of manifests, first one with EMD power trailing. Unusual EMD's
-
Wandered from MP276 to CP285 along the CSX main. Stopped at Trappers 2 in Minoa for Pizza :)
-
Had to visit for family reasons, so why not "rail fan" a foreign territory ? Found two spots at either end of town. MP188 & MP191 "Higley" road crossing. ONE thing for sure, CSX doesn't have a monopoly on long trains :)
-
Kind of a simple task, haul loaded salt cars from Lancing to Sayre PA, haul empties back to the mine and repeat. Simple right?
-
Started & Ended at cp285 East Syracuse. Wandered to Minoa Cross Walk , Trapper 2 Pizza ;) & Kirkville MP280 as well. A real mix today, from a EMD SD70AC lead, to the typical mix of GE ES & ET44AH's, and some older ES40DC's mixed in.

Should have posted this one, a favorite is those "Book End" trains :) THIS is a unique one with the tank cars headed to New jersey...
SO a "Book End" "Pipe" train ES44AH & ET44AH power
-
Actually a good day, weather has been shockingly good for winter in Central New York :)
-
This next video was from the day before....had to do a "double take" on the Auto Rack train.... :) Seeing double?? Or same train?? Well not exactly but this has become a fairly standard lash up here. :)
