RPRX 2003 GK10B

  • Romet
This locomotive started life as CP 8139 SW1200RS back in 1959, looking identical to his brother CP 8120 displayed in Kenora, ON: http://www.railroadforums.com/photos/showphoto.php?photo=29011

After 43 years of service, in 2002 he was sold to Alstom, re-sold to RPRX and converted into a Green Kid engine, becoming the second Railpower locomotive, after GG10B, the original Green Goat, made from a SP GP9 two years earlier.

Only two more Green Kids were made in 2004, sold to Agrium and IDC Distribution (Vancouver, BC docks) respectively. This example was donated to the Canadian Railway museum, apparently Geep conversions made more sense then SW units going forward.
Powered by two Cummins QSK19 700hp engines.
As built
