Penitas Crossing

Border Pacific 96 heads west to Rio Grande City. BOP connects with RVSC at Mission and runs 31 miles to RGC. This is a former Mo-Pac branch. Mexico and the Rio Grande are behind the tower-like structure.
To a point I am surprised Rio Valley of McAllen did not take charge and actually take the whole rail line from Harlingen to Rio Grande City. My opinion of course.

Of course, you are aware that BOP became a shortline in 1984, and UP didn't lose interest in the "Mission Industrial Lead" until 1992. Otherwise, the McAllen op would have had the whole thing sooner.
