MRS 5233

A overhauled SD40-2 ready to return to mainline.
is that one of those crazy SP tunel elephant ear modifications that they left on the unit, or did they do that in Brazil, do they have many tunels to travel through?

Hi BryonSD45,
MRS did the its own Elephant ears following SP exemples. These locos were made in Spain by MACOSA. But MRS also have some Sd40-3 bought as second hand in US market. Some were SP units and all them have elephant ears today. MRs have the biggest railroad tunnels in Brazil. At its main line called Steel Railway it has have more than 70 tunnels, and the biggest one have about 26,000ft long (about 9 km long)
