Exiting Winton Tunnel

Exiting Winton Tunnel

BNSF 1090 is exiting Winton tunnel at speed Sunday July 13, 2003 with a westbound intermodal train at speed.
Nice shot! And nice consist! You mind sharing how you got to that location?

You need to be travelling west on US2 from Leavenworth.
The railroad goes into the Chumstick cuttoff at Leavenworth.
Quite some distance west of Leavenworth there is an overpass where the tracks cross US2.
You can safely pull off there on the east side of the overpass and climb up to track level.
One must select a photo location with care as there is not much room on the side of the tracks, but there is just enough.
