BNSF 4566 was involved in a head-on collision with a loaded coal train in Clarendon, TX. BNSF 4566 and BNSF 8902 were the only two locomotives that could be saved. BNSF SD70MAC 8876 and BNSF C44-9W 4385 were completely destroyed. The engineer on BNSF 4385 was fatally wounded as a result of the collision. The coal train crew was responsible for the accident because they failed to stop at the designated spot on their track warrant and traveled an additional 10 miles to the impact site.
