Is that the Orange just faded?? Can remember when we used to pull 20-30 cars a day out of Lake Britton. Was a few days that I got called for a helper job to run out ot the lake and help the Burney job home.

Nope...after a decade of inactivity the #102 was re-activated in 1995 for the tourist business, and it was painted red with white trim at that time.

The red paint is starting to fade...that's what you see here.

When the #101 was destroyed in a yard switching accident in the McCloud yards about 1997 the #102 was pressed into freight service. For a while it did double duty...it was not uncommon for the #102 to be on the rear of a freight train, with a complete gift shop still set up inside from a tourist run the previous day...

The VIP caboose MCR #553 (ex-GN #553...it was 03? on the McCloud River) got a similar red paint job last year.
