7677's First Run to Richmond, CA

This GEVO was making her maiden voyage across the Mojave Desert on March 26th, 2005. 7677 was put in the hole for an eastbound trailer train. During their stop, the conductor stretched his leg and let the trackside photographers take their share of rosters. The conductor complained that they were having problems with the brakes.

Location is East Siberia on the Needles Sub, approx 70 miles east of Barstow, California.

My, how shiny! With the passing train it could have been interesting to use a slower shutter speed (maybe 1/30th of a second) to get some motion blur on the trailers. I'd prefer either seeing the motion blur or no train in the background. Just a personal preference.
