6148 in Nanaimo

6148 lays over in Nanaimo on the SB trip back to Victoria. The 6148 first showed up on the E&N in 1994 in time for the Commonwealth Games in Victoria, VIA Rail was expecting large passenger loads. When the 6148 showed up in Vic West it was in very poor condition, it hadn't been moved under its own power in 4 years, the seats were torn, springs poking through, the carpetting on the walls was peelling, and the car had a distinct musty smell. The 6148 was used as standby power if either the 6133 or 6135, or both broke down.

My first trip on the 6148 was in July of 1994, my seat had springs poking through the fabric, and the seat back would not stay in the upright position.

The only other time I've ridden the 6148 was earlier this year after it was rebuilt, it's no longer in as poor condition.
