Not this week. It's 50 degrees. Here is some from this morning of a windmill train on the Omaha sub. A little snow left. And some ice.

New place called East River. Just east of the Missouri River and west of Pacific Junction.

Here is one of the whole train taken from the Hwy 34 overpass. We didn't get much snow in Omaha. 40 miles west they got a foot or more and blizzard warnings

And in case you missed the post from a few years ago called "Some Old Slides" here are 2 pics of the west end of the Missouri River bridge.

Grading for the new alignment

I remember seeing photos of construction of the new alignment and bridge in an old BN Annual from the early-mid 70's. I'll have to look it up, but I believe the original curve had a speed limit of around 10mph.

Here are 2 from a couple days ago. The CN train that runs to north Omaha switches a place on the SE side of the airport. There are no public roads that have a view of the tracks. I took these from Abbott Dr which is the main north south road from Omaha to the Airport. The first pic is the "distant view" and the second one is the zoomed in view of the train getting ready to back some tank cars in to the industry. In the backround to right is the swing bridge over the Missouri River. This is former IC. It is about a mile away if you follow the tracks

-A late Amtrak 6 on Feb 1st at Oreapolis NE Note the Amtrak California car behind the power.
-A CITX as DPU at Louisville NE the same day.
-Some trackside time in Fremont NE on Feb 2nd. Both pictured trains talked with the DS about PTC issues they were getting at this point on the RR.

Just a note: I was in Plattsmouth Monday morning and had originally thought that there was double track from the river to Oreapolis. Nope. It is still single track from the west end of the river bridges and into Plattsmouth. There it switches to double track to Oreapolis.

Strange visitor from the north. Apparently came down for the snow and cold. DPU from or to the Bayard Line of the BNSF.
